Re-emphasising full commitment in making ‘twin parks’ – MCKIP and CMQIP, a success

ORGANZA BALLROOM, THE ZENITH HOTEL, KUANTAN – Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri DiRaja Adnan Yaakob has reiterated the Pahang State government’s stand in giving full commitment to ensure the success of the ‘Twin Parks’ – Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) and China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP).

 Announcing this during his 16-minute off-the-cuff speech at the 2nd Malaysia-China ‘Two Countries, Twin Parks’ Joint Promotion Dinner on Tuesday, May 31 at this five-star hotel he said;

“I must emphasise and re-emphasise that the Pahang State government under my stewardship, will continue to give fullest support and cooperation to make this a success,” that received spontaneous applause from the attendees .

“We are indeed so committed to this project so much so that approval for almost all applications were approved within a short period of time,” he added that again got another round of applause.

The Vice Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Zhang Xiaoqin was present at the Dinner, so were other dignitaries including Mr Zhang’s 150-member delegations.

QINZHOU SPEED AND NOW, THE KUANTAN SPEED

Dato’ Sri DiRaja Adnan added that, when the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak launched the MCKIP in Gebeng on February 5, 2013; the latter did mention about ‘Qinzhou Speed’ to refer to the remarkable speed that the CMQIP was establihed in Qinzhou, China.

“When the MCKIP (in Gebeng) was readied within four (4) months, our Right Honourable Prime Minister mentioned another term - ‘Kuantan Speed’.

“The short period of time that we took to approve things, shows that we are very serious and very committed to see that these two (2) parks will become a success,” he said.    

MCKIP he added, will continue to focus on attracting industries such as  manufacturing, plastic and steel, automotive components, information and communication technology (ICT) and renewable energy component.

The Menteri Besar also said that, the initial project in MCKIP that begins with a billion-ringgit investment to the setting-up of an integrated steel mill, was expected to create 4,000 job opportunities.

“And we can also expect the spin-off effects that this project created and this spin-off effects will of course benefit the small and medium enterprises, and also the local communities,” he added.

The integrated steel mill he said, would surely improve the overall steel industry in Malaysia that would also eventually brings great economic impact on not only the MCKIP but also to Pahang and it’s neighbouring states.

Dato’ Sri DiRaja Adnan also mentioned about Kuantan Port that has been fast becoming not only a petrochemical hub but also a major container terminal of the east coast region of the peninsula.  

Presently he added, a new road linkage is being built to further ease the connectivity between Kuantan Port and the MCKIP, and then to the nearest point of the East Coast Expressway (ECE).

On the launching of the MCKIP Coordination Service Center at the 2nd Floor of Menara Zenith nearby, prior to this Joint Promotion Dinner, Dato’ Sri DiRaja Adnan said, the centre would help investors in getting the various assistance needed, to facilitate further matters concerning their investment.

To be managed by Beibu Gulf Holding Malaysia Sdn Bhd, he believed that this Centre would be able to liase easily and efficiently with the potential investors especially from China.  

Earlier in his speech, the Menteri Besar also spoke about what has been said during their brief meeting preceding the Dinner of which Mr Zhang has admitted that, whenever he comes to Kuantan – this being his fifth visit; “It’s like coming home”.

“Now I say - whenever he comes to Kuantan, it’s like receiving my own brother,” Dato’ Sri DiRaja Adnan delightfully said that once again got another round of applause from those present.
